D.C. takes great pride in its bikeshare system and rightly so. In August 2008, D.C. became the first jurisdiction in the United States to launch a bike sharing system. Then called SmartBike D.C., the program offered 120 bikes at 10 stations in downtown D.C. and the City center. Today, Capital Bikeshare, lets you choose from over 3,000 bicycles across 350 stations in Washington, D.C., Arlington and Alexandria, VA, and Montgomery County, MD. Capital Bikeshare has grown so popular that in May of this year they introduced two locations with guaranteed docks where members can be assured that they will no longer be “dock-blocked.” The surge...

Bad weather tends to go hand in hand with longer Metrorail delays. Delays usually last the longest when it’s freezing outside, with the situation being a bit better when it’s snowing and even better when it’s only raining.

Between January 2013 and January 2017, there was some kind of Metrorail delay virtually every day; nearly 20% of Metro trains arrived late in 2016.
