BRINGING OUR VISION TO LIGHT

THROUGH AWARENESS

District Ninja seeks to improve community awareness by correlating local open data, survey data, and journalistic stories through our District Spotlight case studies.

DISTRICT SPOTLIGHT

While census data paints the image of a district with transient residents, many small and local district businesses have bucked this trend. For the last decade or more, these local businesses have served district residents and transplants alike, helping to  transform many of DC’s neighborhoods into the areas they are today, well before the arrival of “transplants” and the like. District Spotlight is an homage to these businesses and an attempt to capture their story.

BRINGING OUR VISION TO LIGHT

THROUGH COLLABORATION

We are striving to create a climate where local governments coordinate and partner together to create a greater Washington area wide smart city framework and develop and share best practices. Also, at the local level, we are working to create an environment where cities drive smart technology and innovation through citizen inclusion. These are some of the ways we are making that happen.

OPEN DATA WORKING GROUPS

Host events and forums where representatives from local municipalities, non-profits, business sector, and citizens come together to collaborate on the creation of shared open data collection, maintenance, and usage practices.

TECHNOLOGY
WORKING GROUPS

Hosted events, forums, round tables and open discussions with vendors and thought leaders in the various smart technology spaces such as cryptocurrency, accessibility, sensors, and data analytics.

HACKATHONS

Creating spaces and meet ups where developers, entrepreneurs, public officials, designers, and citizens interested in making their cities smarter come together to create apps and software for that purpose.
